Francesco, italienischer Schriftsteller, * Venedig 11. 12. 1712, ✝ Pisa 3. 5. 1764; vielseitig gebildet, unternahm viele Reisen, wurde mit dem elegant geschriebenen populärwissenschaftlichen Werk »Newtonianismo per le dame« (1737; deutsch »Jo. Newtons Welt-Wissenschaft für das Frauenzimmer. ..«) in ganz Europa bekannt. 1740-43 lebte er am Hof Friedrichs des Großen, der ihm den Titel eines Grafen verlieh; erwarb im Auftrag Augusts III. von Sachsen in Italien Gemälde für die Dresdner Galerie.
